FAQ

What is a third party accident?
A Third Party Accident is a collision between your vehicle and another vehicle (the third party) and the collision was not caused by your driving or management of your vehicle, and damage was caused to your vehicle.

Why you may not want to claim on your comprehensive insurance?
You may not wish to claim on your comprehensive insurance policy because:-

•  The accident was not your fault;
•  You do not want to pay your insurance excess;
•  You require a replacement vehicle for your personal/business use;
•  You wish to have your vehicle repaired by a motor body repairer of your own choice;
•  You have a very high excess (ie $3,000.00);
•  You do not want to lose your no claim bonus, (therefore increasing your insurance premium);
•  You wish to keep your insurance record clean;
•  You do not wish to spend your time and the inconvenience of dealing with your insurance company.

What if you do not have comprehensive insurance but have third party damage/fire/theft insurance?
If you do not have comprehensive insurance but have third party/fire/theft insurance, you may be able to claim on your insurance if the accident was not your fault but this is dependant on the terms of your policy of insurance (you have to check with your insurer) and an excess is normally applicable.

What if you do not have any insurance whatsoever?
If you do not have any insurance you have no option but to make a third party claim.
